چکیده

We address the problem of efficiently annotating labels of objects when they are structured. Often the distribution over labels can be described using a joint potential function over the labels for which sampling is provably hard but efficient maximum a-posteriori (MAP) solvers exist. In this setting we develop novel entropy bounds that are based on the expected amount of perturbation to the potential function that is needed to change MAP decisions. By reasoning about the entropy reduction and cost tradeoff, our algorithm actively selects the next annotation task. As an example of our framework we propose a boundary refinement task which can used to obtain pixelaccurate image boundaries much faster than traditional tools by focussing on parts of the image for refinement in a multi-scale manner.

Stability and Approximation of Random Invariant Densities for Lasota-yorke Map Cocycles

We establish stability of random absolutely continuous invariant measures (acims) for cocycles of random Lasota-Yorke maps under a variety of perturbations. Our family of random maps need not be close to a fixed map; thus, our results can handle very general driving mechanisms. We consider (i) perturbations via convolutions, (ii) perturbations arising from finite-rank transfer operator approxim...

On Perturbations of Unitary Minimal Models by Boundary Condition Changing Operators

In this note we consider boundary perturbations in the A-Series unitary minimal models by φr,r+2 fields on superpositions of boundaries. In particular, we consider perturbations by boundary condition changing operators. Within conformal perturbation theory we explicitly map out the space of perturbative renormalisation group flows for the example φ13 and find that this sheds light on more gener...

Sparse second moment analysis for elliptic problems in stochastic domains

We consider the numerical solution of elliptic boundary value problems in domains with random boundary perturbations. Assuming normal perturbations with small amplitude and known mean field and two-point correlation function, we derive, using a second order shape calculus, deterministic equations for the mean field and the two-point correlation function of the random solution for a model Dirich...

Supersensitivity due to uncertain boundary conditions

We study the viscous Burgers’ equation subject to perturbations on the boundary conditions. Two kinds of perturbations are considered: deterministic and random. For deterministic perturbations, we show that small perturbations can result in O(1) changes in the location of the transition layer. For random perturbations, we solve the stochastic Burgers’ equation using different approaches. First,...

Depth Map Boundary Enhancement Using Random Walk

Depth information is essential for depth image-based rendering (DIBR), which is one of the rendering processes for the virtual view using a color image and its corresponding depth map. Although there are several depth estimation methods, more accurate depth estimation is still required. Since inaccurate depth information along object boundaries causes serious rendering errors, depth boundary in...
